Two Grade IV pupils of New Corella Central Elementary School(NCCES) Marla Jane F. Saplot and Lylanie Grace A. Anib in a commanding performance of their routine for the Gymnastic Elementary Girls Category, last Nov. 25-29,2014 during the Division Meet held at Sto. Tomas National High School Gymnasium.

            Lylanie captured First Place on her all-around score 22.4 on Rhythmic Gymnastics 7 -9 years old age bracket category.Free hand (7.9), hoop (6.3), clubs (4.5) and rope (3.7). Artistic dance elements, stag leap, straddle jump, throwing with swan leap and ring leap as she hit her routine and lift herself to victory.

            In Women Artistic Gymnastics (WAG), Marla Jane F. Saplot on the other hand, got First Place under 10 years old age bracket category. Her routines consist of tumbling passes, a series of jumps, several dance elements, acrobatic skill elements and turns upon performing on floor exercises. She also spring on a padded beam, performs a choreographed routine from 70 to 90 seconds in length consisting of leaps, acrobatic skills, turns and dance elements.

            Gymnastics coach Mrs. Rosalie R. Gumapac, was so impressed with the performance of the two NCCES gymnast. “Their job is just to hit their routine like what they have  during their practice. I was hoping for it, but I could not be 100 percent sure because there were so many newcomers," Mrs.  Gumapac said . "Words can't describe how proud I am to both of you!,”she added.

            Marla and Lylanie said that they really felt excited and nervous. They should keep  stronger. They were stood up with confidence and  power just to win the title. The team DepEd-DavNor-New-Corella-District continued to practice and definitely looked forward to compete to the higher level of gymnastics competition on the coming DAVRAA Meet.

New Corella District bagged awards during the Girl Scout of the Philippines 33rd Council Wide Encampment at Alano Regional Training Center, Toril, Davao City on December 9-14,2014.

DepEd-DavNor-New-Corella-District Campers won 3rd  place in Neo Ethnic Dance Festival, Best Camp lay-out, Most Number of Gadgets and awarded as Most Cheerful delegation.

“Campers are so inspired and so they did their best in camp. All of them are so happy when we received our awards”, District Field Adviser Aurea Comidoy said.

Twenty-four campers and five adults/titas from New Corella central and New Cortez Elementary School were sent by the district of New Corella.

New Corella delegates together with the other 1 815 delegates from the different districts of Davao del Norte, Tagum City and Compostela Valley involved themselves in the varied activities inside and outside the camp.

Camp activities include Neo Ethnic Contest, Artworks, and their offsite activities in the D’Leonor Inland Resort, I May Theater and in SM Explorium.

Winning scribes also include Herlyn Sabulaan who won 4th place in CRHW (Filipino), Kobe Dumandan – 6th place in Editorial Cartooning (Filipino), Gilchrist Nathan Cunado -6th in Science Writing (English) and Zildjan Jaspe – 7th place in Feature Writing (English).
